  I am out (finally) - done with the Witnesses

  hi, long time no see.

  i am finally out of the borg.

  had a talk with an elder-friend-family member today who said i should just do it if that's what i want to do, and my wife says if that's what i want to do that she's fine with it.

  So I got to see my baby. We agreed that while she stays away to decide what to do I can see my baby regularly and that we're not going to fight or get into a custody battle about it.

  I really hope she sees that I'm not doing anything wrong, that I'm not pushing her away but trying to love her and understand her and support her whatever she decides.

  I'm just mad that nobody in there understands that I'm not dangerous and not out to get them. As I said before, DJEggnog is my stepfather:

  "By your writing I notice you are the accusing party but can the accused please give a straight answer and would you listen?"

  I never accused anyone. I asked for a straight answer and I am open to listen. I never get straight answers from him, more evading and more questions to me. I did say that child molesters should be immediately reported to the police and that this was not always the policy, I sent him a copy of the old BOE letters that say never to report as well as the new BOE letters and the elder book that clearly says you need two eyewitnesses and only then to report only where necessary by law. I asked if that is responsible or are they really trying to very thinly adhere to Caesars laws.

  "I will tell you why we first want to handle a case instead of report to the authorities and now look at this as a brother that wants to be responsible. If you immediately alert the police, how do you get the chance to form a comittee?"

  Say what? That was it. That's a true question, not rhetorical, no further explaining.

  What is the average cost to build a new Kingdom Hall

  i was recently told that the average cost to build a new kingdom hall in the united states rural midwest region was $250,000.

  i was shocked to say the least.

  i remember when my childhood congregation built a new hall in 1989 for $60,000.

  @wobble - It's not (really) a money making scam, it's a really bad team building excersice. The WT of course gets it's cut but there is fairly good insight into the money moving (I did have insight into it) because you don't want the locals to profit too much of course - they might get rich. The thing is that the companies involved in supplying are really happy because they get to sometimes double and triple the order because there are a bunch of retards that never did a thing like it in their life installing their products.

  Reminds me of a project where somebody put the glue down, let it dry, cut the carpet wrong, applied more glue and then tried to fix the wrong cuts by cutting pieces out of a fresh roll not knowing that it was also meant for the rest of the rooms. The project finished with the ugliest carpet that had bubbles, ridges, cuts. A whole new order (~$10,000) of carpet, more glue, first manual scrapers (which tore up pieces of floor) then rental of floor sanders and several new pieces of floor board and trim were required to fix it a few weeks after the official end of the project.

  Oh well, my family and wife was all good and well with it UNTIL THEY WENT TO THE FUCKING KINGDOM HALL. She went there and never came back, took my baby (6 weeks) with her - I am sure she takes very good care of her but we have a whole house furnished, not just a room. I've been trying to talk to her but she's cutting off all contact - whenever I do talk to her, I'm nice, I understand and she gets soft after a few sentences but it seems like somebody is ALWAYS WITH HER and she has to hang up.

  WTF. I have seen a lot but this is cult 101.

  I have access to all the buyer arrangements for the RBC. The most common discount is 15% of retail but for the basic materials ordered ahead this is usually 25% or more. Carpet is 50% off retail.

  There is a lot of waste in an RBC project. There are no project managers with any real experience so materials get shipped but never received, received but never distributed, distributed but not on time, on time but not correct so eventually the locals have to go to home depot anyway.

  The actual material costs are pretty close to 100k for an average project, land acquisition etc. takes more. There are a lot of 'fees' that disappear in 'approved witness' businesses for the big non-quick build work such as tree removal, surveyors, engineering, excavations, foundations etc. There are actually 2 or 3 companies I know of Witnesses that make their living doing RBC work.

  Also, regardless of donations, the land and materials are always fully costed in the loan to the branch. I don't know what happens to the donations even if land is given, the price of it is always counted towards the local congregation.

  When Water Guns Threaten A Religion

  today's wall street journal has a front page article about how squirt guns are viewed as a threat to the iranian theocracy.

  young people there are being arrested and beaten by authorities who condemn water pistols as 'immoral'.

  there have been open water fights with police and forced confessions on iranian tv.

  Funny, I was always prevented playing with water or any other toy guns because we 'would not learn war anymore'.

  Quickly changed when I learned what war really was visiting Sarajevo and Kosovo at 14 'trying to help the brothers' (and helping our local brothers sell cars over there).

  please acknowledge receipt and acceptance of this invitation by completing and returning the enclosed confirmation form to the school for congregation elders desk using the enclosed pre-addressed envelope.

  this should be returned no more than two weeks after receipt of this letter.

  I think it means that if you go over 50 hours that your credit decreases until it hit zero. So if you do 100 hours in 'actual' service, you can count 100, not 120. If you do 60 hours, you can count up to 70 but not over for that month.

  I am already happier. My exit was just that - I quit like I quit a day job, cold turkey, yesterday I told my wife (at 3:00 am in the morning) that I didn't believe and that it wasn't going away since we last talked several months ago. She eventually told her dad and by the evening he came and talked to me and he said, if you don't want to do it, just quit. I sent the Congregation papers I had back with my wife today (they haven't been done in months), deposited all the funds I had on hand from the congregation in their bank account and gave the key to the Kingdom Hall to my wife.

  I was going to fade but then my wife and her father said it's better not to fake it. So I didn't. You can read some of my older posts to see what else I was doing between doubting and coming out to my wife.

  Actually, the bible is mentioned once: Rbi8 1-14 which according to the Watchtower Library is Genesis to 2 Chronicles. Indeed the laws.
